Ne’er the Twain Shall Part
Nearly twenty-one years of perfect marriage are brought to an end by the combination of a Christmas office party, involving an office secretary, her desk, and the photocopier and an interfering mother-in-law, the poisoned-tongue variety. The stapler had also been pressed into service although the computer’s monitor had been safely removed beforehand under health and safety considerations. Neither of the two main combatants actually want to separate but the mother-in-law has her own agenda and she’s ruthless in executing it. Fortunately, to use a cliché, love conquers all, and in the words of William Shakespeare, ‘All’s well that ends well’.
